Is Wearing a Wig Comfortable?

Wigs are a beauty secret for those who have hair defects, helping them regain confidence and reconstruct a better life. However, many people don't know how to make wigs more comfortable and better looking. Many first-time wig wearers struggle with the process. They quickly gather some wearing methods online. Today, I will share with you how to make wigs comfortable and stylish.

Wearing a wig involves two key steps: wearing a wig cap and putting on the wig itself.

Step One: Wearing a Wig Cap

Wearing a wig cap with short hair is relatively straightforward – you just need to tuck your hair into the cap. However, it's not as easy with long hair. Most online tutorials (whether on hairstyle websites or shops) recommend tying up or braiding long hair and then putting on the wig cap, smoothing the tied or braided hair over the cap. However, this approach comes with its issues. Tying or braiding the hair can create areas with hair ties or braids that are somewhat rigid, causing unevenness and bumps on the scalp. The purpose of a wig cap is to better conceal your natural hair, achieving the smoothest and most seamless base. Therefore, tying or braiding hair before wearing the wig cap might not be the best approach.

A highly recommended method for wearing a wig cap:

Regardless of hair length, there's no need to tie your hair up. Simply place the wig cap around your neck, then lift the looser end of the cap, covering all your hair inside it. Gently massage your hair to even it out. This method is truly effective – after gently massaging, you won't have areas with tangles or unevenness, which can compromise the overall effect of wig wearing.

A couple of things to note:

When pulling the wig cap upwards, apply some finesse – the end of the cap with a tighter opening should be pressed against your hairline without exceeding it. Applying excessive force to the wig cap can make it loose, while insufficient force can lead to hair peeking out.

For individuals with longer hair, after wearing the wig cap, you can use multiple small clips around the edges to secure it more comprehensively.

Step Two: Putting on the Wig

Once the wig cap is in place, the wig will fit better. Essentially, all the methods detailed online are viable, but if you lack experience, you might end up wearing it crookedly or feeling that something is off, resulting in discomfort or an unsatisfactory appearance.

After placing the wig on your head, use both hands to feel the lining near the temples of the wig. There's an inclined lining there. Hold each side of the lining with your hands and adjust it to a symmetrical position.

In summary, the wearing process is as follows:

Use both hands to spread the wig cap open, with the end containing elastic cords facing downward. Put it over your head and neck.

Hold the loose end of the wig cap with both hands and lift it upwards, covering your hair. Press down the tight end of the wig cap. Be careful not to expose your natural hair through the cap.

Pull the end of the wig cap up, completely wrapping your natural hair inside it. Smooth your hair over the cap and use a headband to secure the edges, preventing it from slipping.

Flip the wig's bangs over and start wearing it from the front of your head. After putting on the entire wig, hold the lining near the temples with both hands and place it against your ears. (Note: If the wig feels too tight or loose, you can adjust the tightness using the adjustable straps inside.)

Adjust and position the wig to ensure accuracy and symmetry in how it sits on your head.
